I recognize that I am powerless over this life, my negative behaviors and need to give my burdens to God.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest."

Romans 6:14 "For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace."

Focus #2--Realizing God Can Heal Me

I realize that God has the power to heal and restore me.

Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."

Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

Focus #3--Relinquishing My Will

I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and choose to relinquish my life and will over to the mercy and care of God on a daily basis.

Romans 6:11 "In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus."

Romans 10:11 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Focus #4--Reflecting On My Life

I reflect upon my life and write a detailed accounting of wrongs I have committed and wrongs committed against me.

Psalm 139:23-24. "Search me, O God, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting."

1 John 1:9 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Focus #5--Revealing My Feelings

I admit to God, to myself and to another brother or sister in Christ, the wrongs I have committed and wrongs committed against me.

James 5:16 "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

Focus #6--Removing My Defects

I am ready to let God make me into a new creation, and create a new self.

Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this that He who began a good work in you will carr it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Ephesians 4:22-24 "You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

Focus #7--Resolving to Change

I humbly resolve to allow God to transform me by the renewing of my mind and to be changed into His likeness.

Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer yourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed in to His likeness with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

Focus #8--Recording People I've Hurt

I make a list of all the people I have hurt and pray for the willingness to ask their forgiveness. I will also make a list of all the people who have hurt me and pray for the willingness to forgive them.

Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Colossians 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Focus #9--Reconciling Relationships

I make direct amends to the people I have hurt, and offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me, asking God for His strength and timing.

1 John 4:11 "Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."

Philippians 2:3-4 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Focus #10--Reviewing Daily

I make a daily accounting of my wrongs and immediately ask forgiveness from anyone I have harmed.

Hebrews 12:14 "Make every effort to live in peace with all men, and to be holy."

James 1:22 "Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves, do what it says."

Focus #11--Reconnecting With God

I reconnect with God through daily prayer, bible reading and journaling. I pray for His purpose to be revealed and His power to accomplish the plans He has for me.

1 Thessalonians 5:16 "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

Psalm 40:8 "I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."

Focus #12--Reaching Out to Others

I reach out to others with the good news of a relationship with Jesus Christ and share the power of living a life focused on HIM.

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
